About Us

The public Procurement Group has been set up by professionals having long and rich experience in Public Procurement in International Organizations (e.g. The World Bank), Government of India (Railways, Public Works Department, Law Department etc), and Public Sector Enterprises. The members held top most positions in their Organizations and worked at policy making levels. The Group was registered on 31st March, 2003 under Societies Act 1860 by Registrar of Societies, Government of NCT of Delhi.


The group recognizes an urgent need for reform of the entire public procurement regime, consisting of legal, institutional and procedural framework; and introduction of modern concepts and current technology, so that the public gets a better deal for their money. The collective experience of the group is global; the members have experience of procurement systems of a number of developed and developing countries of the world.


Aims and Objectives:

  • To promote economy, efficiency, transparency and accountability in public procurement by government ministries and their agencies, local bodies, statutory authorities and state enterprises.
  • To address the issue of corruption in public procurement.
  • To build a code of ethics among public procurement professionals and the business community.
  • To promote modern concepts and technology in the procurement process.
  • To provide assistance to the governments, their agencies and enterprises through consultancies, training and other interactions in the achievement of the above objectives.
  • Undertake study and research in Public Procurement and allied subjects.
  • Organize training, workshops, seminars and conferences on public procurement topics and issues.
  • Create a library of knowledge and information on public procurement and related disciplines like Law, Management etc. to be available to society members in print and electronic media.
  • Maintain contacts with other organizations in India and abroad who have similar objectives and establish collaborations wherever necessary.
  • Publish books, monograms, newsletters and journals.


PPG is located in New Delhi, India. Its members are spread in other parts of the country and also abroad. The management of the society is entrusted to the Governing Council. The chairman of the Governing Council presides over the council meetings and the General Body meetings and the executive powers of the society vest in the President; and the secretariat of the society functions under him.
